Who runs this site

MileageLogMaker (www.mileagelogmaker.com) is run by Peak Apps Studio. For any question about your data, email info@peakappsstudio.com.

Trips you enter

The trips you add to a mileage log are saved in your browser's local storage, so the list is still there when you come back. US, Canadian and UK logs are saved separately. The mileage reimbursement calculator saves its own trip list in the same way and does all its sums in your browser. When it hands trips over to the log generator, they travel in the part of the link after the # sign, which browsers do not send to servers.

Your trips stay on your device until you delete them in the tool or clear this site's data in your browser settings.

When you download a log or an export

When you download a PDF log, or a CSV or Excel export with Pro, your browser sends the log to our server, which builds the file. The request contains your trips (dates, start and end places, purposes, distances and trip types), the name and vehicle you entered, odometer readings, the tax year and region settings, and, if you have Pro, your license key and your logo.

The server builds the file in memory, sends it back to your browser and does not keep a copy. If a file fails to build, the server writes a technical error message to our hosting logs.

Pro license checks

When you enter a Pro license key, it is saved in your browser's local storage so that Pro stays on in that browser. The key is sent to our server when you activate it and with each Pro download, and the server checks it with Gumroad's license service (api.gumroad.com) to confirm that it belongs to a purchase that has not been refunded. After a successful check, the server keeps the result, with the email address on the purchase, in its memory for up to six hours. It does not write them anywhere else.

Buying Pro

Pro is sold through Gumroad. The buy button opens Gumroad's checkout, where you give your payment details to Gumroad, not to us. As the seller, we receive your email address and the details of your order from Gumroad, and we use them to answer questions about your purchase and to issue refunds.

Hosting

The site runs on Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel processes each request, including your IP address, the page you asked for and your browser type, and keeps request logs for a limited time. The site uses your device's own fonts, so no font service sees your visit.

Emails

If you email us, we receive your email address and your message. Mail sent to peakappsstudio.com addresses is forwarded by Forward Email to a Gmail inbox. We use your email only to reply to you.

How long data is kept

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Email info@peakappsstudio.com and we will reply within one month. Most of the data this site uses never reaches us: you can delete your trips yourself in the tool or by clearing this site's data. If you live in the EU or the UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

MileageLogMaker is a tool for drivers who claim business mileage and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes to this policy

If the site starts handling data differently, we will update this page and the date at the top.
